Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Los Altos Mayor Sally Meadows, a Women's Caucus member, led the nation-wide simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence, first read aloud to the public on July 8, 1776. Participating in the reading were representatives of downtown businesses, Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs, school districts, City Council members from Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, the League of Women Voters, Greentown Los Altos, the Los Altos-Mountain View Community Foundation, Girl Scouts and the American Association of University Women, Silicon Valley Branch.
